New Chairman Elected for Chartered Accountants Cork Society

Anthony Reidy, ACA, has been elected Chairman of the Chartered Accountants Cork Society, succeeding Sean Pierse, ACA, of abm Financial. 

Anthony, Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers, was elected at the Society’s AGM held on Tuesday 22nd June last in The River Lee Hotel, Cork.  Adrian Ryan, Premier Recruitment is incoming Secretary to the Society. 

The Chartered Accountants Cork Society is a District Society of the Chartered Accountants Ireland, Ireland’s oldest and largest professional accountancy body.   

Addressing the AGM, outgoing Chairman Sean Pierse outlined the many successful events held by the Cork Society during his term of office including the Annual Daffodil Day Breakfast Briefing which sold out and raised €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.  2009/2010 also saw an increased number of successful professional development and networking events in the Diary. 

Sean went on to thank Chartered Accountants Ireland, the voluntary committee and Regional Development Co-Ordinator Mary Rose Desmond for their involvement and help in organising such a successful calendar of events together with the many sponsors for their support. 

Newly elected Chairman, Anthony congratulated the outgoing Chairman, on his commitment and leadership during his term and went on to say that he looked forward to working with the committee and continuing the good work done by Sean and previous office holders.  “We are part of a well functioning and vibrant society. As with all voluntary organisations we have challenges to face in maintaining financial sponsorship, continuing to be relevant to members and securing their input and involvement.  I am acutely conscious of these challenges and all will be strongly within my focus during my chairmanship of the Society”.
