The name change comes about as a result of a corresponding change in the title of the overall representative body on the island, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland which changes to Chartered Accountants Ireland tomorrow. The change in title represents a wider consolidation of the Chartered brand, with all 9 Chartered Accountants district societies in Ireland and overseas undergoing a similar name change. The purpose of the change is to more closely align all district societies and place the emphasis on the word ‘Chartered’ and the high regard with which it is associated.
In terms of language, the correct new title in full is Chartered Accountants Cork Society, and approved abbreviations include ‘the Cork Society’ and ‘Chartered Accountants Cork'. The address for the Cork Society website will change to www.charteredaccountants.ie/cork.
This move coincides with the opening of a new dedicated training and administrative headquarters for Chartered Accountants Ireland in Dublin in September. The change will be accompanied by name changes to the other Chartered Accountants Ireland district societies and all the district societies will also adopt new, consolidated logos.
Chartered Accountants Cork Society now counts over 1000 of Chartered Accountants as members.

We welcome the change and the unity the new brand name and logo bring throughout the organisation. The importance of the brand Chartered Accountants is now to the forefront and takes a modern and fresh approach but builds on the historic strength of the island’s oldest and largest professional accountancy body.”
